Leaking from the unit itself, a motor that’s burned out, or a disposal older than 8 to 10 years usually points to replacement, since parts for older units can be hard to source and a new unit is often the better value than repeatedly patching an old one. We’ll tell you which situation you’re in, and we won’t recommend a full replacement if a straightforward repair will do the job.
